Ron
Spencer
(196?-198?)
Ron Spencer took over Little Plum from Leo Baxendale, whose style he copied closely, in particular the tendency for adult characters to have broad chests and big chins, beer guts and comically thin legs.
His most successful character was Baby Face Finlayson, "cutest bandit in the west", who originated in an episode of Little Plum. The strip ran through the seventies, and returned for a short while in the eighties, this time transplanted to a British setting. He also drew The Nibblers, which ran for two series in the seventies. For The Dandy he drew a variety of strips, including Dinah Mo.
Spencer continued to draw Plum into the late eighties, and then disappeared.
