Jim
Petrie
(196?-present)
Distinctive Jim took over Minnie the Minx from Leo Baxendale in 1962 and has drawn it ever since. His trademarks include dogs peeping out of bushes, and characters licking their lips with multiple tongues. Over the years his style has loosened, with more use of close-ups and split perspectives, and more interesting framing.
Jim also drew for the Dandy and Sparky, among others, but sadly never created any long-lasting characters of his own (although I was fond of The Incredible Sulk which he drew for Jackpot). He recently retired from drawing Minnie after almost forty years.
He also drew various strips for Sparky comic, but sadly none of his own creations have endured.
