James (Jimmy) Clark was born in 1895 and became a staff artist at D.C. Thomson and John Leng for over forty years. He drew the Willie Waddle books; Jimmy and His Grockle for The Dandy; Tricky-Dick Ant and Little Noahs Ark for The Beano and Tiny Tim for The Topper.
In 1949 he revived Pansy Potter The Strongmans Daughter to become Pansy Potter in Wonderland and claim The Beanos back cover for over four years - acclaimed as his finest work. He died in 1977 aged eighty-two.
